David Paulo, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a dual-nationality artist with deep roots in Portugal. Returning to Portugal at age eight, David pursued an architecture degree but found his passion for tattoo art later in life. His early interest in art was nurtured in his parents’ basement, where he spent hours drawing, painting, and airbrush painting. Despite his parents’ preference for a more traditional career, David followed his passion and pursued tattooing in his mid-30s. He learned on his own and practiced during his free time, eventually transitioning to tattooing full-time in 2013. His style gravitates toward realism, influenced by artists like Caravaggio and modern painters such as Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, and H.R. Giger. Recently, he’s been incorporating graphic elements into his realistic tattoo designs, likely inspired by his background in architecture and graphic design. Although he enjoys both black-and-grey and color tattoos, David finds the challenge of working with color more appealing. As a dedicated artist, he continues to refine his style, recognizing that tattooing is a continuous learning process.
