Gilbert Machado, born in the Dominican Republic, moved to the US at age 13, where his passion for art reignited. Influenced by his uncle and comic books, Gilbert initially aimed to become a comic book artist. He studied advertising and design at Miami Lakes Tech and pursued computer animation at the Art Institute. A friend’s encouragement led him to tattooing, and he began his self-taught journey in Miami. Gilbert honed his skills at Tuff Stuff Tattoo, Alternative Art Tattoo in Davie, and Funhouse Tattoo in Pompano Beach.
In 2010, Gilbert opened Black Rose Tattoo in Deerfield Beach, Florida, marking a significant milestone in his career. Known for his versatile styles and attention to detail, he has won multiple awards and appeared on the TV show Tattoo Titan. Gilbert has collaborated with “Tattoo Projects” and “Victory Motorcycle” and holds a license from Lucas films, showcasing his work related to Star Wars, Dune, and Indiana Jones. With a commitment to thinking outside the box and giving 110% on every piece, Gilbert continues to inspire and innovate in the tattoo community.
Gilbert Machado was one of the first to use H2Ocean products in the owners home town of Pompano Beach, Florida. Gilbert also trains as a MMA fighting and has won many tournaments. He has tattooed many Champion MMA fighters like Amanda Nunez.
